Back from TN…
The amount of activity in Aries and Gemini is leaving me refreshed as fuck but super dehydrated.
Tennessee was incredible. The people organizing at Chinkapin Craftshead are truly wonderful people and made everything so easy on us - we literally just played opera all day long. Plus, to be in a rehearsal process with such talented people where everyone works hard and is excelling feels so rare but actually is abundant in the right spaces. All killer/No filler, so the kids say. I already feel the buzz from this group of collaborators and the potentials we hold and lucky me, I live in the city that everyone goes to so they’re right here in NYC.
Plus, if you can believe it, I stayed in a tent for 8 nights with storms and ticks and peeing in the bushes. I am a forest child and the mountains called to me and honestly it made me a better singer all week. My voice felt fresh as a gosh darn daisy out there and I didn’t have a care in the world except singing my harmonies. I’m telling you I loved singing so much with these people we sang in our off time - check it out.
Mozart with strings is so special so when I asked them to read this with me and everyone said yes? Hell ya, Come Scoglio from Cosi fan Tutte.
Working so closely with the orchestra as we built this opera really helped me hear the colors and passing of line through voices and instrument, a testament to bReAd’s brilliant composing. We will have a screening of the performance at some point in the coming months as well as more live performances so there will be more opportunities to see Leland & Silas.
For now you can catch me on June 10th at Common Mollies running Karoake! This is my first night at this spot so I need bodies, alright? All we got is lungs and a singing dream.
After that, then I’m back at Upside Bar on June 23rd! Keep your ear to the ground about more things happening at Upside too…
What’s the difference between a piano and a sandwich? I can’t tuna sandwich.

I’ve been in the dance of Mars and Pluto the last 6 months and it has forced me to stand up for myself.
So what’s the point of creation? Does the act of creating something new have to involve the destruction of something else?
Today I’d like to talk about Abraham the Father of many religions. There is a lot of Genesis dedicated to the story of Abraham, but the story that has gripped me this week is the original circumcision.
We’re in constant cycles of birth, life, death and rebirth and I’m feeling it extra hard. Surprise Surprise.
The synchronicities between this current production and our country have not gone unnoticed on me. We are a society infected by fear which is leading to violence. When is enough, enough?
